Blancpain celebrates watchmaking tradition and art de vivre in hong kong

Blancpain recentlyhosted an exhibition in Hong Kong dedicated to its long tradition in creating Complication timepieces. The Manufacture associated this event with two special gourmet workshops:a finewine tasting experience combined with a degustation menu by Michelin-starred Chef Philippe Orrico – a unique way for guests to discover the numerous connections uniting the work techniques of master-watchmakers and those performed by high-end gastronomic craftsmen.

During two days, Blancpain showcased a selection of its Complication timepieces and novelties, highlighting its tradition of innovation and technical expertise perpetuated for more than two centuries. Organized in association with wine connoisseurs, FINE+RARE Wines, theexhibition was held in an elegant and convivial lounge area, where watches were brought to the fore in an original way by means of wine showcases.

First guided through a series of speeches, an estimated 160 distinguished guests had the chance to learnmore about Blancpain's historical role in sustaining the revival of mechanical horology. The brand rehabilitated several major traditional complications, from the moon phase mechanism to the Carrousel, the Flyback Chronographto the Minute Repeater. Along with Blancpain’s Traditional Chinese Calendar, all these emblematic complications were presented to the participants. A master-watchmaker demonstrated the complex fabrication processes performed entirely by hand in the Manufacture's Grand Complications workshops, located in the Swiss Vallée de Joux.

During the evening, guests also had the opportunity to discover the world of Art de Vivre, so dear to the brand. For more than thirty years, the Manufacture has nurtured special relationships with the field of gastronomy, driven by the conviction that these two realms share common values: a constant quest for excellence, meticulously executed hand work, passion, as well as the tiniest attention to detail. To experience these commonalities, guests were invited to attend an oenology workshop animated by wine experts, while pursuing with a seasonal gourmet degustation prepared by the talented Michelin-starred chef Philippe Oricco. Honoring white truffles, the Chef chose to show the audience how a piece of culinary art, made of a variety of refined ingredients, is the result of sophisticated craftsmanship, know-how, and a subtle balance between inventiveness and respect for tradition – in the exact same way as for watchmaking creations.
