Blancpain celebrates the art of gastronomy with the Michelin Guide Switzerland

On Monday, 21 October, the prestigious Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) celebrated excellence. At the Michelin Guide Switzerland 2024 star ceremony, the famous gastronomic guide honoured Switzerland's newest Michelin-starred establishments, in the company of Blancpain, which has been at its side since 2020 as part of a worldwide partnership. On this occasion, the Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie had the pleasure of presenting the Young Chef Award, which rewards the most promising chef under the age of 35, with a view to inspiring and encouraging young chefs to perpetuate the culinary art. This year Blancpain awarded the distinction to Gilles Varone, 29, who runs his eponymous restaurant in Savièse, in Valais. Already awarded a star and a green star – guaranteeing sustainable gastronomy, he is adding this year the precious distinction to his list of achievements.

Driven by a shared passion, a rich tradition and a sharp spirit of innovation, Haute Horlogerie and gastronomy came together on a stand bearing the Blancpain colours, following the star ceremony. While a Blancpain watchmaker worked with precision at his workbench, a wine and cheese pairing highlighted the subtlety and meticulousness of gastronomic combinations. The day concluded with a sumptuous gala dinner, orchestrated by five chefs, including three Michelin-starred one: Michèle Meier (1*), Lucrèce Lacchio (1*) and Olivier Jean (2*), accompanied by EHL's Julien Boutonnet and Marc Turcas. Comprising several appetizers, two starters, one main course and one dessert –all skilfully thought out and executed, the menu delighted the guests, highlighting the excellence shared by Blancpain and the Michelin Guide.
