Blancpain “Art de Vivre” Presentation in Seoul

Dimitri Aubert, Area Sales Manager, and Soomin Park, Brand Manager Korea, of Blancpain welcomed VIP’s, friends of Blancpain, and journalists, to participate in a two part event.

One section showcased Blancpain’s Metiers d’Art collection and its 2017 Baselworld launches together with a demonstration from one of Blancpain’s master engravers. The second half was a culinary exhibition from Pierre Gagnaire’s Michelin two star restaurant in Seoul. Guests were entertained by the showing of the film “A Passion for Excellence” which places side by side one of Blancpain’s master watchmakers and famed chef Franck Giovannini from the three Michelin starred restaurant B.Violier, Hotel de Ville in Crissier.

Blancpain’s invitees were given the opportunity to see close hand one of Blancpain’s unique Metiers d’Art specialities, Shakudō. This copper and gold alloy can acquire a patina in a dark color midway between chestnut brown, blue and black, depending on its composition and its texture. The new releases introduced at Baselworld were also on show: the Tribute to Fifty Fathoms Mil-Spec, as well as the Villeret Calendar Week Large Date watch whose dial featuring the Grand Feu enamel technique proved a great success with visitors who were discovering these timepieces for the first time.

The day of the event coincided with the traditional Korean holiday, named Dano-Je, originating from a custom of paying sacrifice to a historical deity. In tribute to this custom, Blancpain offered a calligraphy workshop who it attracted a crowd of guests.
