Blancpain and the Michelin Guide present Singapore's first Michelin Young Chef Award to winner Mark Tai

In continuation of its global partnership with the Michelin Guide, Blancpain was delighted to support the 2021 edition of the Michelin Guide Singapore, which was celebrating its fifth anniversary in September. On this special occasion, the famous gastronomic guide not only announced this year's selection of Michelin-starred restaurants all over the country but also introduced the Young Chef Award for the first time.

Recognising the exceptional talent and great potential of young chefs working in Michelin-starred culinary venues, the Young Chef Award Singapore was unveiled through a virtual livestream ceremony and won by the 33-year old Chef Mark Tai.

Invited on September 20th 2021 at the Blancpain Boutique at Marina Bay Sands, Chef Mark Tai was honoured to receive his Michelin distinction together with a Blancpain wall clock, which will set the tempo in the kitchen of the Cloudstreet restaurant henceforth, headed by Mark Tai in collaboration with the Chef-owner Rishi Naleendra. Blending Sri Lankan culinary heritage with modern-inspired Australian dishes, the Cloudstreet restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star this year. This very popular gourmet spot has become renowned for pushing the creative limits of haute cuisine with bold flavours layered menus served omakase-style.

For more than 30 years, Blancpain cultivates special ties with the greatest award-winning chefs, encompassing more than 100 Michelin stars among its circle of friends, past and present. Haute Horlogerie and haute cuisine share a similarly rigorous discipline: the quality of a Blancpain timepiece and of a gourmet dish both rely on precise adjustments along with a subtle blend of tradition and creativity. Time, moreover, plays a crucial role in the preparation of a refined delicacy. As a faithful curator of time for almost three centuries, Blancpain proudly accompanies the Michelin Guide in its quest to seek out the most exceptional talents.
