Blancpain and the Gourmet Festival of Sylt: when fine watchmaking meets haute cuisine

Cultivating special ties with the world of gastronomy for more than thirty years, the Blancpain Manufacture recently supported the 20th edition of the Gourmet Festival in Sylt, an island located at the northern end of Germany, in the North Sea. As the exclusive watchmaking partner of the event, Blancpain hosted a dozen VIP clients to live a unique culinary and tasting experience during a three-day affair. The event started with an exquisite dinner on the opening evening of the Festival. It was followed on the next day by a visit at the Relais & Châteaux restaurant "Landhaus Stricker", where the Michelin-starred chef – and friend of Blancpain – Holger Bodendorf,  welcomed guests with a special gourmet menu of 6 dishes, accompanied by their corresponding wines. On this occasion, the Brand Manager for Germany presented the numerous values that link culinary and horological arts to the audience, while showing them a selection of watches from the brand's collections. A master-watchmaker was also present to demonstrate Blancpain's know-how, highlighting the meticulous craftwork, the pursuit of excellence, as well as the sureness of touch that share the domains of haute horlogerie and gastronomy.

On the last day, guests embarked on an Oltimer bus for a "Gourmet Safari"; a gastronomic trip – in the form of an itinerant menu - stopping by five renowned restaurants of the island. In each of them, participants were offered two dishes delicately prepared by the chefs, beginning with the starters, followed by the main courses through to the desserts at the end of the tour.
