Blancpain made its first 2013 official race appearance at the 12H Hungary on the famous Hungaroring. Over 20 cars lined up on the starting grid of the Hungarian track on Saturday April 6th.
This first course of the season was a real success for the Swiss team, which earned the top spot on the winner’s podium. The drivers – Blancpain’s President & CEO Marc A. Hayek, along with Peter Kox and Nico Pronk – all had a chance to display their excellent driving skills.
At 8 am on Saturday morning, the no. 24 car set off under ominously heavy skies. Rainfalls and cold temperatures during the first hours made driving conditions tough and dangerous. This was indeed an eventful sweep around the clock for the Blancpain Racing drivers and mechanics.
At the end of the race, Marc A. Hayek commented “it was a perfect race to begin the season ! The entire Blancpain Racing team was in a good spirit and the car worked perfectly well. It’s always nice to begin a season with a success, even more in a 12 hours endurance’s race”.
This race was an opportunity for Blancpain Racing to make a series of decisive adjustments to its new Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 FLII. The event also enabled drivers to prepare in real competition conditions for the first round of the Blancpain Endurance Series 2013 season that will kick off on April 13th and 14th at the legendary Autodromo in Monza, Italy.
