ADAC GT Masters (Oschersleben) : Successful start of the new ADAC GT Masters Weekend season
Around 15,000 spectators experienced an exciting start to the new ADAC Masters GT Weekend season in the motor sport arena in Oschersleben, Germany on Easter weekend.
The Swiss-Dutch duo Marc A. Hayek / Peter Kox in the Blancpain Reiter Lamborghini Gallardo LP600plus had a brilliant start in the new season and delivered the first fastest lap time of the year in the ADAC GT Masters in the free practice.
In the first of two races, the team Hayek/Kox started from the eighth row. Hayek performed very well and reached the mandatory pit stop without losing any places. Kox took over the Gallardo and finished first in the amateur ranking (twelfth place overall).
Following the race, Marc A. Hayek said, “I would never have thought I would win the amateur race in the first ADAC GT Masters race. Of course I always hope to be able to achieve a good result and there is a lot of fighting spirit aboard in any case. I had a good start, and then there were some spins in the first curves which caused some obstruction. Afterwards, though, it continued without problems. Later there was a small heart-stopping moment when Peter Kox got very close to Philipp Eng’s Corvette but nothing serious happened."
The second race also began very well for the Team Hayek/Kox. Kox took over the lead and finished first at the driver's change. Hayek was able maintain the lead for two rounds before a damaged wheel forced him to give up.
The next race in this series will take place from 13-15 May at the Sachsenring in Germany at the FIA GT1 World Championship.
