Share

One week after the start of the Blancpain Endurance Series in Monza, the Blancpain Sprint Series kicks off on the French track of Nogaro, at Easter weekend. The level of the drivers on the entry list is unequalled, with several former F1 drivers and GT champions all fighting for top honors.

The Blancpain Sprint Series is the sprint branch of the newly created Blancpain GT Series. With two one-hour races per race weekend there should be no lack of thrills and spills during the seven rounds of this 2014 season. The Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro has the honour of hosting the opening round, as part of the immensely popular Coupes de Pâques meeting.

At least 20 super sports cars from premium brands are going to compete in this new championship. The high-profile grid, including world champions, former Formula 1 contestants and experienced GT drivers promises exciting races. Among the candidates Tomas Enge (Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini), Andrea Montermini (Villorba Corse Ferrari), Giorgio Pantano (Bhaitech McLaren), Nelson Piquet jr. (AH Competiçoes Team Brasil BMW), Marcus Winkelhock (Phoenix Racing Audi), Alex Zanardi (ROAL Motorsport BMW) will be on the starting grid.

In the Pro-Am category, President and CEO of Blancpain, Marc A. Hayek and his regular team-mate Peter Kox will make their Sprint debut at the wheel of their Blancpain Racing Lamborghini Gallardo – GT3.

Marc A. Hayek is very excited about the beginning of the season: “The Blancpain Sprint Series will definitely offer exciting races with top-class drivers on great racetracks. It is a new challenge as it is my first time on this racetrack and this new 1 hour race championship format. However, I am really looking forward to sharing the wheel with Peter (Kox) and we will do our best as always!”

The races will be broadcasted live and highlighted on TV all around the world. A live streaming and live timing will be available for the qualifying session and the races.
