A unique Blancpain benefits the cause against muscular dystrophy

110,000 Euros (130,000 Euros tax equivalent price), that is the sum garnered by Blancpain’s “Only One” Equation du Temps Marchante. Sold at auction for the benefit of muscular dystrophy research, this unique timepiece not only will bring rare pleasure to its lucky owner, but as well it will provide much needed funding for the Association Monegasque Against Muscular Dystrophy (AMM).

Blancpain’s seventh year at the Monaco Yacht Show was indeed a memorable one. This year as before, Blancpain demonstrated its heartfelt commitment to supporting muscular dystrophy research. Blancpain’s booth at this prestigious luxury show was converted into a small theatre for the holding of an exceptional auction. Center stage, of course, was a unique Blancpain timepiece: The Equation du Temps Marchante. Conducted by the experts of the renowned auction house, Antiquorum, the sale attracted bidding not only by those attending in person, but by collectors who participated by internet and telephone. The winning bid, 110,000 Euros (which is the equivalent of 130,000 including tax) was made by a participant at the show and will be entirely donated to AMM.

Several hours before the bidding began on this unique timepiece, Prince Albert II of Monaco officially donated the “Equation du Temps Only One” to the President of AMM, Luc Pettavino. Also for the occasion, the Confrérie des Pirates d’Ouchy, fervent defenders of the smallest independent community in the world (Ouchy, Switzerland) made the trip to honour the flagship of their fleet “La Vaudoise” which was immortalized on the winding rotor of the Equation du Temps Only One. Underscoring the uniqueness of this exceptional watch, the winding rotor has been hand carved by one of Blancpain’s master engravers to bear the image of the Vaudoise. This celebrated sailing vessel, which has been classed as an historical monument, always distinguished by its Latin sails, has been plying the waves of Lake Geneva since 1932.
