A Heart-Felt Partnership

Since the year 2000, Blancpain has enjoyed the honour of being a privileged partner of the Monaco Yacht Show. This association is based on a shared quest for excellence, yearly reaffirmed by the presentation of a limited edition dedicated to the Principality, and by Blancpain’s participation in a charity auction on behalf of research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

FIFTY FATHOMS M.Y.S LIMITED EDITION: The quintessence of the sporting spirit.

On the occasion of the Monaco Yacht Show 2007, Blancpain has brilliantly marked this eighth consecutive partnership year by creating a limited series of 10 watches bearing the Monaco coat-of-arms, by exclusive permission of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. Once again this year, the latter made it a point of honour to officiate today on the Blancpain booth in the launch of this limited edition bearing the effigy of his principality.
The M.Y.S. limited edition will delight diving professionals, as well as all nautical and water sports enthusiasts, since it is in fact the brand-new Fifty Fathoms in its flyback chronograph version. Thanks to a system of special seals, Blancpain has succeeded in making the chronograph pushers perfectly watertight and operational at depths of 300 metres. Adding a further touch of technical refinement, the chronograph is equipped with a flyback function, an acknowledged Blancpain speciality. The Fifty Fathoms M.Y.S. Flyback Chronograph is endowed with a sturdy case carved in steel and a deep black dial adorned with the Monaco coat-of-arms. A top-ranked chronograph that is equally in its element at a high-society evening and in the solitude of the ocean depths.

BLANCPAIN ONLY WATCH 2007: the unique nature of an exceptional timepiece

Blancpain, the instigator of the ONLY WATCH charity auction for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, presented an exceptional pocket-watch specially designed and produced for this noble cause. At this second edition of the Only Watch operation that took place at 6 pm today at the Monaco Yacht Show, the Blancpain Only Watch 2007 went under the auctioneer’s hammer for the tidy sum of 70’000 €, which will be entirely donated to muscular dystrophy research.

The designers have conceived a dial opening that naturally follows the line of the movement gear wheels right through to the escapement, providing a unique glimpse of the beautiful skeletonised movement. Crafted in 18-carat gold and adorned with finely hand-crafted motifs, the dial surface is coated with a warm Havana brown coloured enamel. This beautifully dappled shade achieved by Grand Feu enamelling blends harmoniously with the yellow gold of the Clous de Paris hour-markers and the case. The beating heart of the Blancpain Only Watch 2007, in the shape of mechanical hand-wound Calibre 15, can be admired at leisure through the sapphire crystal case-back. Designed, assembled and hand-decorated by the Blancpain master-watchmakers, this breathtakingly slender ultra-slim movement measures a mere 1.9 mm thick for a diameter of 36.1 mm. Endowed with a 40-hour power reserve, the Blancpain Only Watch 2007 is housed in an 18-carat yellow gold half-hunter case measuring 45 mm in diameter and fitted with the traditional double stepped bezel. An exceptionally rare piece acquired today by a delighted collector and discerning connoisseur.
